Fifty years of friendship,
one room of changemakers.
In 1977 the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens opened on land donated by George Morikami, and in that same year Delray Beach and Miyazu formalized a sister city relationship that has now carried five decades of student exchanges, civic delegations and cultural partnership.
The Global Alliance Summit marks that 50th anniversary. Over two days in April 2027, Sister Cities of Delray Beach — in collaboration with the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens — will convene local business owners, community leaders, elected officials and Sister Cities delegations from across the country to build the next fifty years of exchange.
